While thousands of people play Oblivion Remastered every day and enjoy it (including me), the game is not perfect. There are many bugs. To be honest, some are even expected by fans, others (especially those breaking quests) not so much. That’s why, shortly after the Elder Scrolls 4 remastered version premiere, the “Unofficial Patch” mod was released, which fixes at least some of the glitches. I write it because sometimes it is difficult to guess if the problem we encounter is a bug or we miss something. The same case is with Magetallow Candles Box. Many players can’t find this crucial item and without it Frostcrag Spire and its altars become quite useless. Let’s look for it together.
How to get Magetallow Candles Box in Oblivion Remastered
If you are looking for Magetallow Candles Box, it probably means that you have unlocked Frostcrag Spire (east of Bruma). Oblivion features many houses, in which our character can stay. However, probably the most important for a mage is this one. Why? It features Altars of Enchanting and Spellmaking. They need Magetallow Candles Box to work, though. How to get it?

- First of all, make sure that you have read the diary on the “big hand”, to unlock new items for one of the merchants.

- After doing so, you can follow the quest Frostcrag Spire in your Journal, it should show you the location of a merchant called Aurelinwae. She can be found in Mystic Emporium in Imperial City, Market District. It is the same person who sells other Frostcrag Spire upgrades.

- She sells Magetallow Candles Box, they are not cheap, though. You need both of them to power altars (one for each). You can encounter a bug while doing the transaction. It happened to me that my inventory did not update while the shopping window was still on the screen, and I could not see purchased candles. Closing the window helped. However, to be on the safe side, save the game before buying anything.
- Now, you should have Magetallow Candles Box. All you need to do is to go back to Frostcrag Spire and interact with the altars.
