StarCraft Remastered: Mission 7 - The Trump Card
Last update:
Mission objectives:
- Bring the psi-emitter to the enemy base;
- Kerrigan must survive.
Mengsk discovered the contents of the data stolen from the Confederates. It's possible to place a special emitter that will draw a zerg horde to it. In this way, he wants to take revenge on the Confederation. You don't have to destroy all enemy forces, it suffices to simply transport the SCV with the transmitter to the designated place in the Confederate base.

Your main base is located on the island on the right side of the map. Move Kerrigan, the SCV with the Emitter, troops, and buildings that can be lifted back to the base right after the mission has started. The small base located behind the southern bridge is doomed so evacuate its soldiers. Later, you will reclaim this place and take over its resources. You don't have too many minerals in the starting spot but it is enough to build a network of production buildings and a small army. Start fortifying your base by building one Bunker before every bridge and garrison it with Marines. There is no need to invest in Firebats because combat will take place at a distance and in the air. Next, build a network of turrets around the base. The enemy will be using small land forces and Wraith fighters with cloaking. This is why a tight antiaircraft defense is a must.
In this mission, you will gain access to new types of units. The first is Science Vessel, which is a mobile Detector and has several special abilities. Apart from that, you'll be able to produce Siege Tanks in Factories. A Siege Tank is the strongest land unit of the terrans - it has a long attack range and deals a lot of damage, especially in the Siege Mode. The only weakness of this mode is the inability to shoot at a short range. Therefore, you always need to keep a support group around, for example, Marines or just leave some of the tanks in the Tank Mode.
Three paths lead to the designated beacon. The top one is the toughest - it leads through a canyon with two enemy bases nearby. The first one is all Bunkers. The second one, however, consist of a large group of enemy units, Bunkers, and Turrets as well as tanks, infantry and fighters on the hills. The middle one is less difficult and offers access to a plateau that ends very close to the enemy position. From this spot, you can effectively fire on the enemy base. However, this place is guarded by a Battlecruiser, which is a tough enemy to tackle. Also, there is little space there, and the enemy will send a large force after you when you start attacking his main base.

The third path is the best. It is located in the bottom of the map. Build a full squad of Siege Tanks and Goliaths. Add a Science Vessel, which will be detecting cloaked Wraiths, to it. You can also create an additional team of Marines or Wraiths and throw in several SCVs to be able to repair your vehicles. Cross the northern bridge to the mineral deposit you abandoned earlier. You will encounter small enemy groups on your way. Once you've spotted hostile Turrets, set your tanks to the Siege Mode. Now, the defenders will start to attack your armies. Have the mechs protect the tanks from fast units and aircraft. When the enemy stop attacking, move the tanks a bit forward and set them in the Siege Mode again. In this way, you'll destroy the entire southern part and make way to the center of the base. At the same time, bring the SCV with the Emitter. When you think the area is clear enough, send it to the beacon and thus successfully end the mission.
