This page of the guide to The Sinking City explains what actions need to be performed in the archives located in the game world. A visit to the available archives is very often required to obtain new evidence for ongoing cases.

Usually, you have to go to an archive when your investigation is stuck in a dead end, e.g. when you lose a track of a character you are looking for. Also, if you play on one of the lower difficulty levels, the game may mark a piece of evidence with a book icon suggesting a visit in archives.

Oakland has several different archives - including the police station, town hall, hospital, or the headquarters of the local newspaper. For obvious reasons, they store a variety of information which means you have to choose the right archive.

Depending on the ongoing investigation, you can get clear information about which archive you should visit. However, in the majority of the cases, you will have to find the right one on your own.

The example presented in the picture above mentions that the person you are looking for is injured. The obvious step is to visit the hospital to determine whether the person you are looking for when there to receive first aid.

Upon reaching the building with an archive, find the room with an interactive desk.

The first step is to choose the correct position from the collected evidence. Start looking through the evidence and stop at the one associated with the search.

The second step is to define three search criteria. There are four categories to choose from, so one of them should be ignored. As for the other three categories, select the one that best suits your search. This can be a criterion, for example, of the time interval, the status of the wanted person, the district or the type of the crime committed.

After you set the three criteria, click the button to start searching.

If you choose the wrong criteria, you will receive an error message.

If you choose correct criteria, you will receive a piece of new evidence for the case - it may be, for example, some file or address of residence of the wanted person.
