In The Witcher Monster Slayer game, parrying is a basic mechanic during combat. It will protect you from attacks and losing your chance to deal critical hits as well as give you an advantage in battle. On this page we've covered how to parry, when to do it, and the benefits of parrying attacks.
How to parry
Parrying is simple, however, you need to get a good feel for it. You can parry by placing your finger on the screen. Don't move it, don't spin it, just keep it pressed in one place. This will make your character raise their sword and protect themselves from being hit.
When to parry
A particular mark appears above the opponent's head every now and then - we indicated it on the screenshot above. This means that the monster is readying an attack.
However, it's a good idea to act a bit earlier! Even more so if you are using fast attacks. It may take several seconds before the sword is placed in the proper position.
Always keep a close eye on your opponent during the game. At some point, you will notice specific movements that indicate that they are readying to attack, such as suddenly waving their snout. This will be the perfect time to parry. You shouldn't wait until the last moment.
How parrying affects critical hits
The critical hit meter will drop when you receive damage. However, this will not happen if you parry your opponent's blow. You will need to do it perfectly so that the monster's attack will affect your vitality as little as possible.
