Dragons Dogma 2: How to buy a house? Dragons Dogma 2 guide, tips

Owning your own house in DD2 is a very big gameplay convenience. On this page, we'll tell you how to complete the quest A Place to Call Home, and in the process, how to take possession of a house.

Last update: 02 April 2024

One of the advantages of owning a private house in DD2 is the ability to spend the night without having to pay a fee. Although obtaining the deed is a costly endeavour, the investment will quickly return itself. On this page of our guide, we show how to unlock the quest that will give you the opportunity to own a property.

Buying a house in Vernworth

For the option to buy a house in the human capital city to be available, you need to initiate and complete the A Place to Call Home quest. To start the mission, approach Mildred, a woman who can often be found on a street west from the main marketplace. You don't have to interact with her - she will talk to you on her own and during the conversation explain that she is soon to take a trip and searches for a person who will take care of her house in the meantime.

Mildred should appear in this location already in earlier stages of the game. If the woman doesn't talk to you on her own, try to complete some quests for Captain Brant. His quests often initiate various events such as the appearance of important NPCs in the city.

Mildred will lead you to a house located nearby, thank you, and leave the city. For the next 7 days, you can use the home as it was your property. You can sleep in it, and also use the private chest located inside.

The woman will return to the city after 7 days. She will announce that she is planning to move and leave you with an offer - to buy her Vernworth house for 20,000 gold. Although the price may seem steep if you received this offer in the initial stage of the game, the investment should pay off for you after about just 10 nights. Remember - spending one night in the Vernworth inn costs 2,000g.

If you accept Mildred's offer, the woman will give you ownership of the building and leave the city. From now on, the house is yours, and you can use the facilities as you see fit.

If you are interested in the offer, but currently don't have the necessary money, you can raise the needed gold (there isn't any time limit on the offer) and return to Mildred at a later time. The woman's offer will remain in effect.
