Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? Dragons Dogma 2 guide, tips

A ropeway is an installation that makes it much easier to travel through the dangerous areas of Battahl. On this page we will give you tips on how to travel safely with the help of ropeway.

Last update: 08 April 2024

The rather limited scope of fast travel in DD2 means most of the time you're on your own and have to traverse the map and explore new locations on foot. Nevertheless, there are some options - apart from the most evident method in the form of oxcarts which is introduced rather quickly in the story, there is a quite extensive network of ropeway routes and stations connecting locations in southern Batthal. On this page, we show how to summon a cart and ride the ropeway, as well as discuss various threats that may appear even with you being high above the ground level.

How to summon and get inside a ropeway cart?

You can look up the entire ropeway network by opening your map - Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? - Exploration - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

You can look up the entire ropeway network by opening your map. The routes are marked with dashed lines. Additionally, special markers show stations where you can summon a ropeway cart and get onboard it. The ropeway network links a large portion of the southern limits of Battahl and also reaches its capital - Bakbattahl.

After reaching a ropeway station, to be able to ride, you need to summon a cart (unless it is already there) - Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? - Exploration - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

After reaching a ropeway station, to be able to ride, you need to summon a cart (unless it is already there). For this, approach the crank near the machinery. Press the button that will appear on the screen, and your hero will start to pull a cart closer. Depending on how far away a cart is, this process may take up to several dozen seconds.

When a cart is at the station, get inside it. Don't forget about issuing the "To me" command so your Pawns also enter the cart. A Pawn that hasn't boarded the cart will have to cover the entire route back to you on foot and there is a high probability that he may encounter hostile creatures during the trek. For more information about Pawns, visit a dedicated page of our guide.

Once the entire team is onboard, approach the crank in the cart and point yourself towards the direction you want to travel to - Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? - Exploration - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

Once the entire team is onboard, approach the crank in the cart and point yourself towards the direction you want to travel to. Press the button that appeared on the screen and Arisen will start to rotate the mechanism, which will set the cart in motion. You can speed up the cart ride by pressing "W" on keyboard or performing circular movements with the analog stick. You can stop traveling at any moment. By stepping away from the crank, the cart will stop, allowing you to get a good look at your surroundings. Being able to look from above may allow you to recognize interesting areas or treasures that are barely visible when looking from the ground level.

What to watch out for when riding the ropeway?

Like Oxcarts, the ropeway isn't a completely safe means of transport - Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? - Exploration - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

Like Oxcarts, the ropeway isn't a completely safe means of transport. Although riding the ropeway saves time and you're safe from enemies on the ground level, there are still some monsters that may be able to reach you up above. The worst among them will definitely be harpies, who can easily fly up to the team riding the ropeway. Worst case scenario - one pesky harpy may even snatch one of the passengers and throw him into abyss. Having a ranged character such as a archer or a mage may help in such situations.

An attack by a griffin could prove even more dangerous - Dragons Dogma 2: How to use the ropeway? - Exploration - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

An attack by a griffin could prove even more dangerous. If your cart becomes the beast's target, it may easily fly into it, ripping it to shreds. This results in the entire team falling to the ground, which most often means death. Before riding the ropeway, make sure that there aren't any threats looming nearby.
