Trickster is one of the more easily unlocked advanced vocations of DD2. The only requirement is basically to meet and talk to an NPC named Luz, who resides in a location called Reverent Shrine in northern Battahl. The main obstacle here is that Battahl is a locked destination in the early game, as you need to cross a border crossing to enter the area with the Shrine. You can learn more about ways of crossing the border on a dedicated page of our guide.

Regardless of whether you approach Reverent Shrine from north or south, the best choice here will be to follow the main road leading from the border crossing to the capital of Battahl - Dragons Dogma 2: How to unlock Trickster vocation? - Vocations - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

Regardless of whether you approach Reverent Shrine from north or south, the best choice here will be to follow the main road leading from the border crossing to the capital of Battahl. Be careful, however, as parts of the road are often infested with groups of enemies. Bandits, hobgoblins, or harpies are encountered in numbers here. From time to time you may also encounter a larger enemy such as a golem, cyclops or ogre. If any of the opponents are tough to beat and make problems, you may need to deviate slightly from the road and circumvent the threat.

Follow the road until you reach a smaller path leading east - turn here and continue down the path until you reach a small stony temple surrounded by lush vegetation - Dragons Dogma 2: How to unlock Trickster vocation? - Vocations - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

Follow the road until you reach a smaller path leading east - turn here and continue down the path until you reach a small stony temple surrounded by lush vegetation. Inside the temple, you'll encounter Luz - or rather her semi-transparent, spectral form. Talk to the spirit - after a short conversation, the new vocation will be unlocked. However, do not leave the temple yet, as there is an opportunity here to unlock one of Trickster's master skills.

You don't have to go out of your way to unlock the vocation - visiting Reverent Shrine will be an objective of one of the campaign quests - Flickering Shadows. During its course, Trickster vocation will be unlocked automatically. However, you may want to unlock the class earlier, and there is nothing prohibiting you from that.

Characteristics of Trickster

Trickster is probably the most unusual of all vocations in the game - Dragons Dogma 2: How to unlock Trickster vocation? - Vocations - Dragons Dogma 2 Guide

Trickster is probably the most unusual of all vocations in the game. Basically, instead of directly inflicting damage to opponents, Trickster attempts to divert enemies' attention, buff allies and conjure various illusions to control the battlefield. Among the abilities exclusive to the class are:

  1. Ability to create so-called Simulacrums that divert the attention of opponents, making them attack the illusion instead of the Trickster conjuring them;
  2. A variety of spells improving combat effectiveness of the team (i.e. buffs);
  3. The ability to take the enemy's focus away from allied characters;
  4. Temporary taking control of the enemy and sending him to fight his allies;
  5. Conjuring illusions causing fear or confusion among enemies.

The uniqueness of Trickster is also the reason why that it will not fall to the liking of every player. The lack of classic damage-dealing skills additionally means that the player will have to spend some time adjusting the composition of the party to create a good team that makes up for shortcomings, especially inflicting damage, which you will have to leave to your Pawns.
