10 Games That Allowed Killing Any Character

There are some games that can be completed without hurting anyone. And that's even when the villains standing in our way are completely ruthless bastards. And there are those, in which you can kill literally anyone.

  1. Released:2015
  2. Genre: RPG
  3. Is killing everyone one of the goals of the game? No

Undertale is a game that deserves highest praise. Toby Fox basically created an ambitious RPG that surpasses even the most famous AAA titles in terms of quality of the story and available choices. And all that without resorting to graphic bells and whistles nor revolutionary animation. All it took was a few pixels and eye-catching, expressive character design.

The author shows that each of them has their own motivations, goals, and origin. Calling all the characters of UNDERTALE "monsters" is as precise as calling humans "meatbags." In both cases, basic communication fails. Toby Fox tries to fix this, playing with all the genre conventions he could think of.

But does that mean the monsters in Undertale cannot be killed? Well, they can. The player, if they decide that they so wish, can kill literally all characters here. Unlike Skyrim or Hitman, where it's possible to kill all, or only some of the NPCs, Toby Fox balanced such possibility with one of absolute pacifism; Undertale may as well be completed by maintaining a peaceful relationship with any creature you encounter. And that's what real freedom of choice is all about!
