Dead Space Remake
- Release date: January 27
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X & S
- Our score: 9.5/10
We've been waiting for the reactivation of the Dead Space brand for a long time and we got it. This isn't a full-fledged fourth installment of the series with a completely new story, it's a remake of the original – but what a remake it is! The entire game has been recreated from scratch on the Frostbite engine, reworking everything possible for the better and adding a few more novelties. Thanks to this, even the biggest fans who remember every detail of Engineer Isaac's visit to the Ishimura, every fight with terrifying xenomorphs, can count on a new, improved experience.
Of course, the graphics have changed, now harnessing the power of new consoles. The structure of levels has changed, and Ishimura is now a single, large location that you can freely explore. The creators added various optional tasks to complete along the way, added a voice to the hero, thus changing many dialogues to better fit the scenario, and improved some gameplay mechanics. Only one thing hasn't changed – the terrifying, suffocating atmosphere of the deserted space station. It's worth playing for all these things – whether it's the first time or again and again.
If I could place ten by myself, I would give it ten. Not because it's a revolution in gaming, because it's not. I simply have the impression that I spent the last few days enjoying a complete game, which after the improvements made by EA Motive, doesn't require any further intervention. I hope that this won't be a one-off outburst, but a prelude to the great return of this brand to the showrooms, because, after all, the Electronic Arts concern once killed it, introducing nuances that no one needed. For now, I am optimistic, as the discussed remake is irrefutable proof that the new team knows exactly what they want to achieve and what they can do if they are given freedom, money, and enough time.
