Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, 2023

  1. Release date: February 10
  2. Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X & S
  3. Our rating: 10/10

Hogwarts Legacy was one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Looking at reports of sales and the reviewers' appraisal, we can safely say that it is one of this year's biggest hits. We got an open-world action game with some RPG elements that literally takes us to the Harry Potter universe. It doesn't matter that this is a prequel to the books, set in the 19th century, and that we can't meet our favorite characters here. In a school like Hogwarts, time doesn't seem to make all that difference.

Especially since the game allows you to personally experience many moments from the life of a student that look just like in the movies. You will buy a wand from Ollivander, get assigned to one of the houses by the Sorting Hat, take part in many magic lessons, fly a broom or a hippogriff and experience many other adventures that you've seen Harry and his friends experience. And all this was encased in the typical open-world formula – with beautiful locations, satisfying combat, a lot of side quests and secrets to discover. While there's nothing innovative or revolutionary here, the game simply delivers on all of its elements, and provides many hours of quality fun.

Hogwarts Legacy has everything a Potter fan would want from a game in the series and still manages to feel inclusive, robust, and immersive due in part to its beautiful presentation. It may not be a groundbreaking take into the open-world genre and may feature a few questionable design choices, but it is sure to make anyone, fan or not, fall in love with the series all over again.
