A Year to Remember? The Best Upcoming Games of 2020

With releases of such magnitude as Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us 2, or the Remake of Final Fantasy VII, 2020 may become one of the memorable years in gaming. We list 12 games we look forward to the most.

Doom Eternal – the carnage continues

Why? Because it promises to be a pure, condensed slaughter – devoid of modern gimmicks on the one hand, and void of ugly archaisms on the other.

  1. Release date: March 2020

  3. Platforms: PC, PS4, XONE

Doom successfully revived the cult shooter series in 2016, bringing the atmosphere and solutions of the twenty-year-old game up to modern realities. Success was achieved by abandoning weird ideas like making this game a horror (Doom 3) or a Call of Duty clone (that was the original intent for Doom 4) and instead focusing on delivering the densest portion of juicy shootouts and destruction.

Doom Eternal won't tamper with gameplay, regularly referring to the first two installments of the series. The mainstay of fun will again be the ostentatious and brutal skirmishes with the invading hordes, during which you will hear familiar notes and meet equally familiar, horrible faces (and kill them in a matter of seconds). Doomguya should also learn new things, such as climbing walls or swinging on bars.

While the single player campaign changes will be more evolutionary than revolutionary, the multiplayer module, not very successful the last time around, will now offer a completely new experience. In the invasion mode, we will play a demon appearing in the story campaign of some other player, and try to make his life as difficult as possible. The BattleMode will allow three players to fight each other – one will act as the space marine, and the other two will join forces as demons and try to stop the human opponent. Id Software has apparently given up on trying to deliver a full-fledged, long-lasting multiplayer; instead, they want to give us a smaller mode that will complement the single-player campaign. And it makes sense, because a great campaign is exactly what we expect from the Doom Eternal.
