The Best Video Games Coming in 2023 - Editors' Choice

While still finishing this year's scarce hits, we are already looking ahead to next year's potential blockbusters. Already the first quarter of 2023 should bring quite a few of them – so here's a ranking of the most anticipated games by Gamepressure.

Table of Contents

3. Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios, 2023

  1. Genre: RPG
  2. Release date: August 2023
  3. Developer: Larian Studios
  4. Platform: PC

Baldur's Gate has managed to achieve what Diablo 4 failed on this list – that is getting the spot that correlates with the number next to the game's title. After a long phase of early access and polishing the game with the participation of fans, everything indicates that next year, we will finally witness the official release of the third part of the legendary Baldur's Gate. The origins of this series date all the way back to the 90s, hearkening back to the golden age of isometric RPGs, when we lost ourselves completely in the fantastic worlds, regardless of the graphics quality. The third part is created by Larian studio, responsible for the slightly newer Divinity series, and therefore also people experienced in this genre.

The action begins a hundred years after the events of the expansion to the second game of the series, when the city of Baldur's Gate becomes the target of the invasion of Mind Flayers (haven't we heard this name somewhere recently?). However, we will not see another, inverted dimension here – only an attempt to turn the inhabitants into aggressive creatures, with the rules of gameplay being based on the fifth edition of Dungeon & Dragons. RPG fans can therefore expect a classic production with an isometric view, turn-based combat, an emphasis on the story and developing the abilities of their party members.
