The Best Video Games Coming in 2023 - Editors' Choice

While still finishing this year's scarce hits, we are already looking ahead to next year's potential blockbusters. Already the first quarter of 2023 should bring quite a few of them – so here's a ranking of the most anticipated games by Gamepressure.

2. Starfield

Starfield, Bethesda Softworks, 2023

  1. Genre: action RPG
  2. Release date: 2023
  3. Developer: Bethesda Softworks
  4. Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S

We were all ready to dive in head first into an "epic" adventure in space, but Bethesda decided to postpone Starfield. And maybe that's for the best, judging by the smoothness of framerate in the gameplay fragment that was revealed in the meantime. The game promises a lot of things that will be familiar to every Bethesda RPG veteran, such as frozen NPCs whom we talk to, or not entirely perfect combat mechanics. In addition, however, there will be many novelties – mainly flying spaceships and rich means of expanding it.

The game also constantly scares – or encourages – with the extraordinary number of over a hundred planetary systems with numerous celestial bodies to explore. And this is one of the most interesting unknowns when it comes to Starfield – namely, the way the creators deal with the scale and diversity of the world of this production. Because the fact that we will find here an extensive plot, factions, lots of quests and side activities, and that we will probably get a title that will be playable for the next decade thanks to mods, seems almost certain. Starfield has a good chance of becoming the "Skyrim in space."
