Another entry in a classic platform series from Konami and a third part of the trilogy developed with Game Boy Advance console users in mind. The main hero of Castelvania: Aria of Sorrow is Soma Cruz, who loses consciousness during the first eclipse of the 21st century and wakes up in a mysterious Medieval castle. It turns out that the eclipse had a lot to do with dark forces, and the solitary protagonist has to find a way out of the fortress, while dealing with legions of various enemies. In terms of game mechanics, the title doesn’t differ much from previous productions from the Castlevania series, combining arcade slasher with RPG features. During the game, our hero can use different types of weapons, attacks and spells gained as we progress through the game. Enemies we face are greatly varied and require equally varied tactics.

Unexplainable phenomena, ghosts, poltergeists have fascinated people for centuries. No wonder, therefore, that the topic has appeared many times in various games. Usually the user played the role of a superhero and dealt with supernatural forces. However, n-Space approached this issue from a completely different angle. The fresh look of the creators on a well-deserved topic led to the creation of Geist - a game that added a pinch of flavor to the FPP category.

A dynamic action game originally developed for Xbox and then ported to PC. Gun Metal takes players to a distant future in which humanity moved to the planet of Helios after they had been expelled from Earth by aliens. After a long time of peace, another alien attack puts the mankind’s existence in danger. The only hope of salvation seems to be the technologically advanced Havoc Suit that is capable of transforming itself from a powerful mech into a jet fighter. The player assumes the role of this incredible vehicle’s pilot and has to use its capabilities — like speed, durability, and firepower — to defeat the enemy. The developers prepared over a dozen missions in various environments. Our tasks include, among other things, escorting food supplies, support of offensive operations, defending important facilities, and covering retreats of our allies. Before every mission, we can arm our machine as we please. Way back then, Gun Metal was impressive not only in terms of intense action but also spectacular graphics.

A sequel to Wolfenstein 3D, a popular shooter developed by id Software. Spear of Destiny was released in 1992, soon after the debut of the first game in the series. Because of that, the gameplay mechanics of both titles are very similar. Once again the player assumes the role of William B.J. Blazkowicz, an American Special Forces commando sent to Nazi Germany. This time he is tasked with reclaiming the legendary Spear of Destiny, moved by the Nazis from Versailles and placed in an inaccessible stronghold at the beginning of World War II. Spear of Destiny offers more than a dozen of new maps as well as some new enemies. In contrast to Wolfenstein 3D, the levels aren’t divided into episodes but form a single long mission which ends with a battle against Adolf Hitler. The gameplay remained unchanged – the action is shown from a first-person perspective and the player travels through corridors filled with enemies whom he defeats mostly by using firearms. Defeating a boss is usually rewarded with a key that unlocks passage to a new location.
