A completely free, standalone expansion for Stasis – a dark science-fiction adventure game released in 2015. The plot of Cayne references the base game in a number of ways, but without spoiling it, so players new to the series can also experience the title in full. Story introduces a pregnant woman named Hadle, who wakes up in an obscure medical facility, where unknown men want to take her baby away. As can easily be imagined, the player’s objective is to make sure that this doesn’t happen. The gameplay is exactly the same as in Stasis, so we are looking at a classic adventure game, seen from an isometric view. During the campaign, designed to last for roughly 1.5 hour, we are mainly occupied with exploration of new locations and searching for items, which are necessary to solve the problems turning up along the way. From the audio-visual side, the game relies on the same, albeit beefed up, visuals. Nonetheless, Cayne has a completely new soundtrack, composed by Ivo Sadiski.

Puzzle, 3D Image, Singleplayer, Nintendo Exclusive.

Another installment in a series of logic games; it was created specifically for Nintendo 3DS. The player's goal here is to paint appropriate cubes in such a way so that models hidden inside of them can be revealed. The game was based on the rules of a puzzle created by Non Ishida - a Japanese graphics designer. Although the gameplay resembles Minesweeper for PC, the environments are three-dimensional. Blocks can be rotated freely and digits that are visible on particular cubes (the blocks are made of those) inform the player about the number of neighboring cubes they should paint with a given color. If cubes get painted in the correct color, they disappear, revealing a fragment of the model hidden inside the block. Managing to color the entire block of cubes correctly results in the entire model being revealed to the player, which can represent characters created by Nintendo for example. In Picross 3D Round 2, two new colors were added, as well as more complex models hidden in particular puzzles. The game supports the Amiibo protocol, thus the player can digitalize the figurines they own.

The last goal is possible thanks to obtaining evidence and using it to find the culprits. In Police Tactics: Imperio, budget and resource control are of primary concern. By racking up high-profile arrests, the player unlocks new precincts, units, and upgrades. Our subordinates get promoted to officers, or detectives, and as the time goes, we upgrade our garage with new police cars, or even helicopters which allow for better access to crime scenes. An interesting aspect of the game is the presence of German and American police cars. An interactive first-person experience in which the player can observe the living depths of the ocean by using virtual reality goggles. theBlu was developed by Wevr, Inc.; The title offers three different experiences in which the role of the player is limited to observing what is happening on the screen. In Whale Encounter the users find themselves in a sunken shipwreck, from where they can observe a giant whale. Reef Migration presents the underwater journey of sea turtles. Luminous Abyss shows the creatures that live at the bottom of the oceans – medusas that glow in the darkness and strange predatory fish. During the game the player can slow down time in order to take a closer look at the surroundings. They can also use a flashlight, which is useful when exploring the bottom of the sea. Due to the character of the game, the visuals and sounds are its most important aspect – theBlu offers almost photorealistic graphics: detailed fauna and flora and realistic water. During the game the player can hear authentic background sounds accompanied by ambient music.

Strategy, RPG Elements, Card Games, Board & Card, Roguelike, Singleplayer, Tactics.

A mobile logic game which combines the traits of many genres: roguelike, RPG, board and card game. The game takes place on a two-dimensional board which can be described as a constantly changing labyrinth. The gameplay in Imbroglio starts with the selection of a protagonist from the eight available characters. The player will lead the selected character to combat during which he will use various weapons, special abilities and runes used for upgrading weapons. The battles, which are the major part of the game, are turn based. One of four opponents can stand in player’s way – they differ not only in appearance, but also in the number of health points, damage and special abilities as well. Imbroglio also has the traits of a card game, but the player cannot build his own, universal collection – the card is selected automatically based on the position in the tactical grid where the protagonist is currently located. The key to success lies in developing good tactics and taking advantage of occasions that depend on the momentary layout of the labyrinth.

RPG, Fantasy, Gamebook, Singleplayer, Turn-based, Isometric View.

An adaptation of the popular gamebook that was released in the 80's. The game was developed by Tin Man Games. It takes place in a grim fantasy universe and the player assumes the role of an adventurer who seeks to obtain treasures of a powerful sorcerer hiding at the top of the titular mountain. In order to reach the chest with the valuables, one must gain two keys and then defeat the sorcerer. Gameplay mechanics in The Warlock of Firetop Mountain are similar to classic gamebooks, allowing the player to explore dungeons, disarm various traps and fight monsters – all by selecting one of a few available actions. What’s different from the original gamebook is how the action is presented. Instead of blocks of text, the title employs fully three-dimensional graphics with text descriptions. Combat sequences play out using a turn-based system, just like in classic cRPG games.

Puzzle, Puzzle Elements, FPP, PlayStation VR, Science Fiction, Singleplayer, PlayStation Exclusive, VR.

Developed by Tarsier Studios, Statik is a logic puzzle game, which utilizes functionalities offered by PlayStation VR. The game takes players to a mysterious laboratory in which scientists conduct secret experiments to discover the full potential of the human brain. The story begins when the main protagonist wakes up in a hospital bed with his hands trapped in a small device; without seeing his fingers, one cannot say what is inside the electronic box, which perfectly represents how the player feels – with the PlayStation VR headgear on, he cannot see his hands either. All the puzzles in the game build on an interesting mechanic – since a puzzle solution is a mystery, no one knows which button on the controller to press at a given moment. These puzzles are based on player’s intuition and perceptivity, as well as the ability to manipulate the elements of the environment. The pattern of subsequent solutions reflects the process of the player familiarizing themselves with the construction of subsequent devices, which changes with each new puzzle. In the game, the player is accompanied by a doctor, who follows our actions and comments on them, often in a humorous way.

A war-themed real-time strategy that is a remake of the original Men of War from 2009. Both titles were developed by Digitalmindsoft and Best Way. Similarly to its predecessor, Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins is a war game taking place during WWII. Instead of classic base-building or gathering resources, the whole attention has been focused on tactical aspects and commanding units. The player has a large amount of moves at their disposal – he can order his soldiers to crawl, take over enemy vehicles or aim at their specific parts, or even take control of an individual soldier, like in an action game. Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins includes three single player campaigns: one for each faction: Soviet Union, Germany, or the Allies, with the action taking place in Europe and North Africa. Multiplayer mode is also available. Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins bases on an up-to-date version of GEM engine – offering DirectX 11 support, improved textures, models, and physics.

A mobile free-to-play economic strategy with comedy elements. Con Man: The Game bases on a license of Con Man, an internet series created by Alan Tudyk. The title makes fun of science-fiction movie genre. We assume the role of a Wray Nerely, a star of a cancelled series, who despite the loyal following from his fans doesn’t receive any new casting proposals. For a change, his friend from the set – Jack Moore makes a great movie career. In Con Man: The Game our task is to organize fan conventions that are frequented by the character from fictional series and movies, among them Wray Nerely and Jack Moore. The game includes a number of other plot threads and characters from Alan Tudyk’s series. The con has to be prepared – by inviting celebrities, setting up thematic stalls, summoning cosplayers, and so on – then making sure that it all runs smoothly. As a reward for our troubles, we gain new fans, and receive money needed to organize even more conventions. The game features a distinct satirical vibe, and fantasy fans will find a lot of tidbits and funny references.
