The story of Wolfschanze: The Final Attempt was inspired by historic events – the player assumes the role of count Klaus Schenk von Stauffenberg, a German military officer that attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler in order to dispose the Nazi party of power and stop the war. As we know from history, the plot was unsuccessful, but the game offers an alternative, more spectacular version of the events. The player is given a varied single player campaign, including a few motorcycle sequences and a Zeppelin ride. When it comes to weapons, we can choose from a number of historic weapons, including a Walther P38, MP-40, Mauser 98, hand grenades, or even a flamethrower. Our hero can also use sausages to distract guard dogs. Aside from the single player campaign, the game offers a full-fledged multiplayer mode.

Depending on the currently traversed zone and our progress, the game gives us various challenges that are mainly focusing on gathering the petals from titular flowers – which causes a number of changes in the game world. The developers put a lot of emphasis on using the gyroscopic functionalities of the Sixaxis controller.
