A Plague Tale: Requiem is a sequel to the warmly welcomed action adventure game with stealth game elements, released in 2019. The game was developed by the authors of the first part of the series, the Asobo Studio team, and its release was handled by Focus Home Interactive.
A Plague Tale: Requiem again takes us to medieval Europe. The action of this production is set in the 14th century, after the events presented in the original. The plague that struck France is not over yet, just like the wars that tore it apart. Amicia and Hugo, the duo of characters known from the original, must once again face adversity and fight for their lives.
In A Plague Tale: Requiem we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP). The adventure takes us through various locations - from towns and villages, through picturesque coastlines, to battlefields. Wandering through them, we perform story-driven tasks (and occasionally - side missions), solve environmental puzzles and fight with enemies.
Amicia has at her disposal the slingshot known from the first game, and can set ingenious traps for her enemies. In addition, the girl makes excellent use of a crossbow, and has learned to sneak up on her adversaries and inflict a quiet (though brutal) death on them from close range. All this makes that the protagonist often has the opportunity to turn from a victim into a hunter hunting her enemies.
The situation is different when it comes to the plague of hungry rats, which sometimes even flood the locations, destroying the surroundings and devouring everything that is out of reach of light. Passing through areas overrun by rats requires using torches, constantly looking around and making sure your path is well lit. You can, however, use the presence of these bloodthirsty rodents to your advantage by, for example, luring opponents to places where they will be vulnerable to attack and extinguishing their torches with accurate slingshot shots, thus exposing them to being devoured.
A Plague Tale: Requiem boasts high quality visuals. As before, the most impressive are the rats which appear here in truly frightening numbers.
