Total War Saga: Troy - Mythos Release Date PC
Mythos, the first big expansion for A Total War Saga: Troy, introduces new game modes, mechanics and rebuilds some gameplay elements of the main game. The expansion is rich in mythological elements, such as mythical characters and creatures, but it also offers novelties for the fans of history.
Most of the basic elements of the game remained unchanged. The game continues to offer strategic gameplay typical of the Total War series which combines turn-based empire management with massive real-time battles. The DLC changes the balance of various features, making the strength of the army, heroes, their cost of maintenance and construction of buildings more fair. Apart from that, a new type of "resource" has been introduced, namely administrative abilities. They are needed to maintain units and their accumulation gives both negative and positive effects - among others they contribute to faster implementation of edicts or gaining influence in conquered provinces.
The expansion introduces several new game modes to A Total War Saga: Troy, with Mythos at the forefront. Apart from that, the developers have also prepared a story mode without any fantasy elements, while leaving the players with the default campaign type known from the base game.
Mythos introduces many mythological elements to the game. We were given the opportunity to catch various Greek creatures, such as griffin, hydra or cerberus. Recruiting one of them gives us unique units and buildings and allows us to use special skills during battles and on the tactical map. Finding creatures requires us to organize special mythical expeditions, led by the hero and his army. During each of them we must first find the tracks of the beasts, follow them until we finally fight with the target and after the victory we get the opportunity to recruit it. It's worth remembering that within one campaign we can recruit only one mythical creature. Additionally, many units known from Troy take the form of mythical creatures in the add-on, e.g. harpy units actually become harpies, cyclops become cyclops etc. In addition, the Divine Will system has been expanded, allowing us to control lightning as Zeus or sea waves as Poseidon.
The second new type of campaign is the historical campaign. It eliminates all supernatural elements from the gameplay, focusing on the most accurate representation of ancient realities. Heroes such as Achilles or Hector are still available, but they are no longer independent units with special abilities, but commanders operating on principles similar to those of Rome II or Shogun 2.
The game can be played solo or in multiplayer mode, where it is possible to play both entire campaigns and single battles with other players.
A Total War Saga: Troy - Mythos DLC does not introduce significant changes in technical aspects, however, it adds many new visual effects related to the mythological powers of gods, heroes and monsters.
