The game was created by a Finnish programmer Jussi Koskela and expands the concepts of the previous iterations, introducing several significant novelties at the same time. Deluxe Ski Jump 4 offers a wide set of game modes - single competitions and entire seasons, apart from the multiplayer rivalry.

The player plays the role of a jumper and participates in the prestigious Four Hills Tournament. The German edition of the game was enriched with additional materials, including an interview with the ski jumping legend Jens Weissflog.
