The plot of Deep Descent takes place in a world in which due to the pollution of the surface the humanity was forced to move its civilization under water. However, many dangers awaited there, including mutated sea creatures and hostile human factions.

The player assumes the role of Amleth, the leader of an elite unit who is supported by the beautiful Princess Ophelia Augusta Jutland.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - A Criminal Past

Mechanics-wise, the DLC doesn’t introduce any meaningful changes to the gameplay. Plot-wise, it is a prequel whose action takes place before the events of the core game and is focused on one of the secret missions that the protagonist, Adam Jensen, took on for Task Force 29.
