SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a turn-based fantasy strategy game. Player takes the role of a mage who wants to conquer the whole world. In order to do so, he develops his magical abilities, trains armies, conquers new territories and expands his magical knowledge with new spells.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a turn-based fantasy strategy game. The game was developed by Owned by Gravity studio, the authors of Fantasy General II. It is a spin-off from the popular SpellForce series, which combines the RTS and RPG genres.
The game is set in the world of Eo, well known to the fans of the brand. Players take on the role of a mage who decides to conquer this land. To achieve this goal he must eliminate competing sorcerers.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a turn-based strategy game. The game focuses on developing the army and magic power as well as conquering new territories.
We start the game with a modest tower, which is our magician's headquarters. We have to improve and expand it with additional rooms, which influences the direction of our power's development.
We gain spells and artifacts and recruit heroes, whom we send on adventures. The authors have prepared an extensive crafting system, which allows to create both magic items and undead minions.
The fight is also played in turn-based system. Battles take place on small tactical maps, where we can give orders to our units and support them with spells.
An additional attraction is the fact that the campaigns in the game are procedurally generated, so each time we have new challenges and adventures waiting for us.
The game has only single player mode.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo features eye-pleasing 3D graphics, made in a colorful style faithful to the vibe of other games from this brand.

SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a superbly average game. The combat is standard turn-based at best and, in some cases, can borderline be painful and tedious. The narrative has some interesting moments, and the unique RPG aspects make the game far more engaging, especially in those non-combat moments. It's a game that does not reinvent anything, and in fact, the biggest sin of this title is the sin of 'safety'.

I ultimately think SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is going to be a turbulent release. As a fan of turn-based combat, I loved every minute. Exploring the world finding new and powerful allies to add to my armies, discovering new Necromancer recipes to summon deadly hordes of the undead, fighting off the constant attacks from The Circle - it's a game I will return to time and time again. However, long-time fans of the franchise may struggle with the stark differences between turn-based and real-time strategy in a franchise they've grown to love for the latter.
