Hogwarts Legacy: The Hunt for the Missing Pages - Gryffindor quest

The Hunt for the Missing Pages is the main quest in The Hogwarts Legacy, and it's available only to Gryffindor House. The walkthrough in our guide describes how to start the main quest as a Gryffindor, how to get rotten roast beef for Nearly Headless Nick, and how to meet Richard Jackdawn.

Unlocking the quest - Gryffindor house required

Start by completing the Trials of Merlin main quest where Nora Treadwell asks for help in solving the first puzzle.

Next, you'll get a quest related to the House you chose at the end of the prologue. This mission will unlock if you have selected House Gryffindor. Each of the other 3 Houses has its own quest with a unique title and content.

You can start the quest only after unlocking experience level 5 and learning the Expelliarmus disarming spell.

Rewards for completing the quest

1. XP;
2. unlocking the Jackdaw's Rest main quest - this and the next main quests are once again common to all Houses.

Speak to Nearly Headless Nick

Go to the location marked on the Hogwarts map to meet Nearly Headless Nick. If you haven't unlocked the appropriate fast travel point, you can use the compass to chart a suitable path.

Follow Sir Nicholas

Follow Sir Nicholas and when you reach the lower level, interact with the painting to open the door to the kitchen.

Obtain Rotten Roast Beef

Enter the kitchen and go to the place shown in the screenshot above. Rotten roast beef is on the barrel on the right.

Return to Sir Nicholas

After you get Rotten Roast Beef, return to Sir Nicholas and inform him that the quest has been completed.

Join the Headless Hunt's Game

After a short cutscene, you will appear in Hogsmead. Approach the place marked on the world map and talk to the ghost.

Destroy the Pumpkins to Find the Head

You will take part in a game where your task will be to smash pumpkins to find Jackdaw's head. You can make this task easier by using the Revelio spell - you will find the head in the pumpkin, which jumps up and turns blue.

Speak to Richard Jackdaw

Talk to Richard Jackdaw's ghost to complete The Hunt for the Missing Pages.
