Blue Box Games is Not Making Silent Hill, Studio Head Assures He's Not an Actor

Two months ago, a trailer for an enigmatic game titled Abandoned appeared online. Fans of Hideo Kojima quickly assumed it is a hidden announcement of a new Silent Hill game. Now, a statement from the game's creator has been posted on Twitter, denying the rumors.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The head of Blue Box studio responded to suggestions that Abandoned is actually the next installment of Silent Hill;
  • He also announced a Q&A to be held in the near future to address players' concerns.

Two months ago, a trailer for a first-person survival horror game titled Abandoned from new debuting studio Blue Box appeared online. It wouldn't have been remarkable if it weren't for the fact that players found clues in it suggesting that the game wasn't what it seemed. Since then, the number of hypotheses about the game has steadily increased. According to many theories it is a cover under which a new Silent Hill game, developed by Hideo Kojima himself, is hiding.

There are already so many hypotheses that the creators of Abandoned decided to refer to the matter. First, they published a short post in which they explained the situation.

"We wanted to set things straight. We have no relations with Konami. Silent Hill is owned by Konami. We do not have any relations with Hideo Kojima. It was never our intention to tease the name as Silent Hill. We sincerely apologize for this."

However, the above statement did not help. A few hours later Blue Box posted a short video, on which we can see the head of the studio.

"Hi everyone, this is Hasan Kahraman. I wanted to make a short video where I show myself to you guys and prove that I am a real person. I am not affiliated with Hideo Kojima, nor am I an actor. I am not working on Silent Hill. I just wanted to show you guys my face, to prove that I exist. We'll do a Q&A soon and reveal more information then."

We must admit that the situation, in which the head of a studio must prove that he is a real person, is somewhat peculiar. His statement, however, had little effect. In the comments under the post we can already find a lot of voices of players who still consider the whole thing a fake. Given the number of clues relating to Silent Hill that have been found before, they may still be right.

Another person full of suspicion is, among others, Jason Schreier who managed to interview Kahraman. He mentions that the head of the studio did not want to allow an interview with any other member of the team except one, who did not respond to contact attempts. Hasan also did not reveal details of the contract with Sony and information about the investors who spent their money on the work on Abandoned. The existence of Blue Box itself is also in question. The studio reportedly employs more than 50 people. On LinkedIn, however, only one employee of the company is listed - Kahraman himself.

For new information that may explain this strange situation, we still have to wait. Most likely, the already mentioned Q&A will help. For now, however, it is not known when exactly it will take place.

Abandoned is to appear on PS5 and PC. The game's release is scheduled for the last quarter of 2021.
