Actor on Sleeping Dogs: Movie Will be a Breakthrough
The work on the Sleeping Dogs movie, based on the game under the same title, is to start soon. The main role will be played by Donnie Yen, known from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
We known for some time that Sleeping Dogs will get a movie adaptation, although the information about the production is rather scarce. The first news reached Internet users as early as the beginning of 2018 through Donnie Yen - the actor who is to play the protagonist Wei Shen.
It has been 2.5 years and the movie went off the radar. The silence was interrupted by Yen, who released a short video on his Instagram account, in which he announces getting ready for the actual shooting and shares his feelings about the project:
"I am excited to start preparing for the next challenge and aiming to make another breakthrough movie!"
The actor is called the contemporary Bruce Lee among movie fans. He is famous primarily for the Chinese film series called Ip Man, in which he displays his knowledge of Eastern martial arts. Yen also made his way to Hollywood. In 2016 he appeared in one of the Star Wars spin-offs, Rogue 1, and this year he will be seen in a refreshed version of Mulan from Disney. Despite being 56 years old, he maintains excellent physical form.
Sleeping Dogs is an open-world TPP action game, which is quite strongly inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series. The title is developed by the Canadian studio United Front Games. In the center of the plot and the game there are gang wars in Hong Kong. A considerable cinematic potential can be seen in the sandbox structure of the work.
