Radeon RX 6700 XT Announced; Stands Up to RTX 3070

At today's conference, AMD announced the Radeon RX 6700 XT, a mid-range GPU that will rival the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and even the RTX 3070. We learned its specs, price, and release date.

During today's AMD show, there was a presentation of Radeon RX 6700 XT, where we learned the specs, price and release date of the chip. The GPU in question can be seen as a kind of response to Nvidia's move, as quite recently GeForce RTX 3060 went on sale. However, today's star easily beats it, being a competitor to RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 .

According to the specs, RX 6700 XT, based on Navi 22 chip with 40 CU blocks and 2560 stream processors, is equipped with 12 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit data bus, offering a bandwidth of 384 GB/s. Core clock is 2321 MHz, 2581 MHz in Boost mode. The manufacturer recommends using a power supply with a minimum of 650 W (the power consumption of the card is 230 W). The design is unlikely to cope with 4K resolution, but it will be a good choice for 1440p or the still extremely popular Full HD.

The manufacturer assures that it is an ideal choice for 1440p resolution.

How exectly does the GPU do when it comes to performance? AMD reported that in some games, such as Hitman 3, DiRT 5, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, the new Radeon RX 6000 series beats GeForce RTX 3070, while in other titles the difference is not that significant. The only exception is Watch Dogs Legion, where it performs worse (reaching 62 FPS), even compared to RTX 3060 Ti (around 65 FPS).

The price is set at $479, which is a bit lower than Nvidia's RTX 3070. At the end of the presentation, AMD set the release date of Radeon RX 6700 XT to March 18, 2021. Unfortunately, we should expect limited availability and prices far from those suggested by the manufacturer, due to the difficult situation in the global market, which fans of mining cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) significantly worsen. Fortunately, there is still PS5, on which you can't mine, and which can be recommended as an interesting alternative, easier to buy.
