Steam Remote Play Together Available to Everyone

A new update to the Steam platform has brought a full version of the Remote Play Together feature. This allows local multiplayer games to be played remotely.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • A new update for Steam has introduced the Remote Play Together feature;
  • It enables you to stream games from your computer to your friends;
  • The service is completely free.

The latest update for Valve's game store introduced Remote Play Together. This is a special Steam feature that enables you to play couch games remotely. Titles, which until now were mainly associated with local gameplay and playing together in one room, can now be streamed. It is enough that one user has a relevant title in his library and after its launch, he invites someone from his friend's list to play it. The players who join don't need to own the game, just their own controllers.

The service, of course, applies to games that support local multiplayer. So these are titles whose gameplay is often based on split screen or hot seat modes. An extensive list of games that will support Remote Play Together has been released on Steam. Among them are Cuphead, Goat Simulator and Rayman Legends, among others.

Furthermore, the service is not available exclusively on Microsoft's system. With the release of the Steam Link application for Linux, its users can also participate in the streamed gameplay. Similarly, the service works on hardware running Android and iOS systems. Currently, Remote Play Together also enables you to stream games to friends who do not have a Steam account. Using the new feature is completely free. Detailed instructions for the service is available here.
