Villagers Beg for Mercy in Bannerlord Thanks to AI

The use of AI in Mount & Blade II: Bannelord enables you to bring NPCs to life, for example, by having them beg for their lives during a raid.

A fan project to humanize the NPCs in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, is heading in a disturbing direction. No, the AI is by no means preparing to revolt. The AI begs for its life as we invade a village in the second Mount & Blade.

A new video by modder Bloc is not exactly the same as the project we described in January, enabling us to chat with NPCs. This time the fan did not use the ChatGPT algorithm, but a completely new system.

The reason for this change was mundane. The video from the More Raiding modification is supposed to show NPCs reacting to invasions made in the past and threats. Meanwhile, ChatGPT does not tolerate intimidation, violence, etc., and abusing the patience of the algorithm can get a user's account banned.

The new system used by Bloc has no such restrictions, although for the purposes of YouTube, the player tried to speak in a (relatively) civilized manner (i.e., by Internet standards). He was keen to show AI's tolerance of such language, as well as to once again show AI's knowledge of the game world. In this case the NPC was aware of previous invasions made by the player character.

In addition, Bloc changed something in More Raiding. New features include improved (i.e. more natural) behavior of villagers and the effect of raiding on the world map. The developer intends to release an updated version of this mod as soon as he has dealt with all the changes.
