Electronic Arts is starting to turn up the heat around Battlefield 7. The publisher boasts that this is one of its most ambitious projects to date.
Yesterday, Electronic Arts published a financial report. In a conversation with investors devoted to these results, the publisher decided to raise the mood regarding the next installment of the Battlefield series.
EA also argues that subsequent seasons and updates of Battlefield 2042 have shown that the devs can listen to the voice of the community. This is visible on Steam - counting only the reviews from the last 30 days, 62% of them praise BF2024, while among all the reviews issued since the premiere, only 46% are positive. The reception of the game has clearly improved, although it is still below what we expect from this brand.
The situation is similar with activity results - yesterday's record on Steam was 13,364 players playing simultaneously. This is a positive result, but it is more than twice as bad as Battlefield V (33,000) and noticeably weaker than Battlefield 1 (18,000). EA boasts that the brand is currently doing well - over the past twelve months, more than 25 million people have played its various versions. The question is, how many of these players prefer to play the older installments of the series? The next game from this brand must therefore be a great success if the publisher wants the series to return to the premier league.
Several teams, including Criterion, EA DICE, and Ripple Effect, are currently working on the new Battlefield. The work is currently so intense that EA decided to significantly limit further development of BF2042 so that the devs could focus more on the next installment.
