It's a good time for fans of Elden Ring. This excellent action RPG will receive an update introducing several new features in addition to an upcoming expansion. FromSoftware also announced when exactly we are going to play Shadow of the Erdtree.
The premiere of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is just a week away. Meanwhile, FromSoftware studio announced that "Elden" will receive an update with not only numerous fixes and balance adjustments but also new features added to the game, in addition to the expansion. We also learned the exact premiere time of Shadow of the Erdtree.
Among the changes offered by the upcoming patch for Elden Ring, undoubtedly one of the most useful is the new inventory feature. From now on, all newly acquired items will be marked with an exclamation mark. Furthermore, the equipment will also contain an extra tab named "recent items," where all our most recent acquisitions will be displayed, as the name suggests.
Another novelty is something for people who like customization. Five new hairstyles will be added to the game. You can choose them when creating a character or by using the Clouded Mirror Stand or "respecing" our protagonist. You can check out new hairstyles below. Did you like any of them?
The last change announced by the devs (apart from bug fixes and balance changes, the details of which we have not yet learned) will be new features of the summoning pools. Active summon pools can now be moved to NG+, and individual ones can be activated and deactivated using a special option added to the map menu. If you're interested in the structure of the latter in DLC, I refer you to the previous news.
To be clear - all the new features mentioned above will be accessible to every Elden Ring owner, and the update will be downloadable on the day the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is released.
Along with the information about the upcoming update, the developers also announced the exact release time of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on PC and consoles. The map they created for this announcement can be found below. The premiere of the DLC will take place on June 21 at 9:00 PM PDT. This applies to both consoles and the PC version on Steam. However, this isn't so obvious in all regions of the world, as the debut time of the PC edition usually differs from that of the console version.
According to the information posted by FromSoftware on X, the "base game" and expansion are expected to have a size of around 80 GB (other system requirements remain unchanged, see the graphic below). This means that the expansion is about 20 GB of new content (Elden Ring alone is 60 GB). Just a reminder, the preload on PS4 and PS5 is supposed to include 16.502 GB of data. Importantly, it will only be available on Sony consoles (48 hours before the premiere). On PC and Xbox, the download will only be available at launch.
