Nintendo has announced a Partner Direct set for tomorrow. Typically, this is the type of Nintendo presentation that gets me the least excited. First-party Nintendo Directs are always exciting, and I will always show up for an Indie World Showcase. However, considering this is the first Partner Showcase since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, this might be the most exciting it will get.

Nintendo announces a Partner Direct showcase scheduled for tomorrow, July 31st

The showcase is scheduled for tomorrow, July 31st, 2025, at 6:00 AM Pacific Time, 9:00 AM Eastern Time. The stream is already prepared on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, so you could keep the tab open and wait for the premiere if you wanted to. The stream is expected to last about twenty-five minutes. There are many possibilities, but it only makes sense that many of the third-party games revealed during the initial Nintendo Switch 2 Direct would appear here once again. Here’s what to look for.

Big Indie Hits

Yes, this could be the moment where Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release date is revealed. It was shown for about five seconds during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, which confirmed the release date for this year. Xbox recently announced that it would be hosting a playable demo at Gamescom in a few weeks, which led to speculation that Silksong would appear at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. But who knows? Hollow Knight: Silksong has been everything but predictable.

Another huge indie title expected to be released later this year for the Nintendo Switch 2 is Hades 2. During the Direct in April, it was revealed to be a console exclusive for the Switch 2 at launch. Hades 2 has supposedly received its final updates before the 1.0 launch, so now could be the right opportunity to share a release date.

One of this year’s highest reviewed games, Blue Prince, would feel right at home on the handheld console. This could be the right opportunity for the game to make an announcement. Likewise, one of last year’s highest-rated games, Mossmouth’s UFO 50 would feel perfect on the Switch 2, and this could finally be the opportunity to learn about it.

Popular RPGs

Several huge RPG franchises could get announcements tomorrow. It was the first third-party game revealed in the April Direct, and tomorrow could feature huge news for Elden Ring on the Nintendo Switch 2. Since this game has already been out for a while, there may not be much fanfare, but it should at least get a release date. Much like how Cyberpunk 2077 has been a top seller on the new console, Elden Ring will likely become a big seller as well.

Another RPG that has been out for some time, Final Fantasy VII Remake, could get an announcement tomorrow. It might be more time to wait for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but there’s always a possibility of getting release dates for these two.

Aside from Elden Ring, FromSoftware might have another game that gets an update tomorrow. We have still only seen one trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, and we know it’s not arriving until sometime next year. But this could be an opportunity for both FromSoftware and Nintendo to share more about the game and continue building up excitement.

In terms of more recent, but just as popular RPGs, we still have yet to learn anything about two of the best turn-based games in recent years: Metaphor: ReFantazio and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Both games would feel right at home on the Nintendo console, and with its stronger capabilities, could have an optimized version ready for the handheld sometime soon. Of course, this would be a quick turnaround, especially for the smaller studio behind Expedition 33, but it doesn’t have to be a shadow drop. Just letting us know it’s being worked on would be enough.

It probably won’t happen, but Baldur’s Gate 3 would be incredible.

Xbox Shows Up

Xbox has promised in the past to support the new Nintendo console and has not been shy about porting its studios' games to rival consoles. In fact, it has worked out well for them, as they have recently been the number one third-party publisher. So, it would not be surprising to see some major Xbox representation tomorrow. Likely not anything too revolutionary, but at least updates on some already released games.

Sea of Thieves seems like an easy choice, especially with Nintendo Switch 2’s Game Chat feature. The game has been out since 2018 and made the jump to PlayStation last year, quickly becoming a top seller. Another Xbox studio game is Call of Duty. During the Activision Blizzard acquisition, Xbox said that the franchise would be shared with Nintendo as well. While it’s not exactly a big game for the average Nintendo fan, this could be the opportunity to mention it.

Other Xbox games that could make an appearance are South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Though I would argue those games likely need more time before they’re ready to port.
