BioShock 4 in Space? Voice of TLoU2's Dina is All for It

There are more speculations about BioShock 4's setting and this time Shannon Woodward shared her opinion.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • More people are speculating about the setting of BioShock 4;
  • This time it's Shannon Woodward, known for her role of Dina in TLoU2;
  • The actress would love to see an installment of the game set in space.

As of 2019, we already know that the next installment of the BioShock series is in development. It was also revealed that the game will be set in a new location and will be an open-world title. So there is no question of returning to Rapture or Columbia. These announcements allow for far-reaching speculation. In fact, the description could fit a huge number of different settings. Shannon Woodward, actress known for the role of Dina in The Last of Us: Part 2, has her own personal predictions for BioShock 4's setting, which she shared on the Good Game Nice Try podcast.

"Space? I don't know. Those games are so wild that far be it for me to impose a bad idea. [...] Space would be dope though. I love space in video games. I'll play crap videos that are games in space, even if I hate it. Just let me go see Saturn. I'm good."

Woodward's words are obviously not supported by any actual leaks. But it's worth considering whether setting the action in space isn't a really good choice for the devs to make. Alien planets, dark orbital stations, or simply the cosmic void are places that could fit into the intriguing and disturbing atmosphere that has characterized all BioShock games. Moreover, such a choice makes the devs get rid of any limitations that might result from sticking to Earth.

The recent success of The Outer Worlds, on the other hand, has shown that cosmic weirdness still sells. BioShock 4 could afford to go even further when depicteding the subject matter. Woodward's words may be wishful thinking, but they can't be denied a point. For confirmation of such a scenario, however, we have to wait until the official announcement from Cloud Chamber.
