BioShock 4 Will be Powered by Unreal Engine 5

The new BioShock will be powered by Unreal Engine 5, a job offer published by Cloud Chamber confirms.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The job offer published by Cloud Chamber revealed that BioShock 4 will use Unreal Engine 5;
  • This is a change from previous plans that included a previous version of the engine.

We've known since 2019 that BioShock 4 (working title) is in development. However, we lacked lacking any official information that would reveal what the game will look like. Some details, however, appeared in job listings published by Cloud Chamber. In one of them it is revealed that candidates for the position of Senior Gameplay Programmer will be working on Unreal Engine 5. BioShock 4 is the only game developed by the team. The conclusion is obvious.

Interestingly, this is a big change from previous information. Previous job offers revealed that the developers were going to create their game using the Unreal Engine 4. As you can see, recent months have made them change their mind about the technology . This means that the series still sticks to a familiar environment. Previous installments also used engines created by Epic Games.

We can only hope that other elements mentioned in the earlier job offers remain relevant. They revealed that BioShock 4 is to be characterized by a complex, open world. Additionally, it is to be filled with warring factions. Unfortunately, the devs deliver this kind of report only on the occasion of the publication of subsequent job offers. We still have to wait for official announcements.
