Borderlands Movie May Have Just Found Its Lead Actor

Most likely, we know who will play Roland as the main character of the upcoming movie adaptation of Borderlands. It will be a well-known Hollywood comedy actor.

Five years ago, we learned that a film will be made, based on the Borderlands series. Although we've already learned some of the names involved in the project, it's only now that the first information about the actor who will play the lead role of Roland (the playable soldier class from the first game) has appeared.

Illuminerdi reports that Lionsgate is talking to Kevin Hart, a Hollywood comedian who worked on many popular films and, above all, comedies. He is particularly known for the works in which he performed together with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the last two parts of Jumanji and Central Intelligence. Undeniable chemistry is born on the screen between these two gentlemen.

Would Kevin Hart fit in with the Borderlands universe?

Hart would thus join Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, Blue Jasmine, Carol), a two-time Oscar winner who has already been cast as Lilith.

We would like to remind that the film will be directed by Eli Roth, who is most often associated with a characteristic supporting performance in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Despite his rich acting career, he has also stood behind the camera a dozen or so times, and his most popular (though little respected) works are Death Wish with Bruce Willis and The House with a Clock in its Walls with Jack Black. Craig Mazin, the showrunner of HBO's Chernobyl, is responsible for writing the screenplay. He will also be working on a future TV series based on The Last of Us. We don't know the premiere date of the Borderlands movie yet.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
