Cosmoteer - Ion Beam Ship Explained

Cosmoteer allows players to build many kinds of interesting ships. One of them is the Ion Beam Ship. In this article we will tell you how to create it.

In Cosmoteer, players can make their spaceship-building dreams come true. They can bring various, even the craziest ideas into reality. Sometimes, however, not all mechanics are 100% clear. Therefore, in this article we will talk about the basics of creating ships using Ion Beam.

Basic rules

First of all, you must remember that the Ion Beam only shoots forward in a straight line. Nothing prevents you from using it as your main gun, however, this will make you lose the mobility of the weapon. The remedy for this is to use Ion Prism, which will direct your laser.

Each additional beam of energy entering the Ion Prism (except the first one) weakens the final effect. This means that it is a perfect example of the idea that more does not always mean better.

The above links to the fact that you shouldn't try to make all your Ion Beams eventually merge into 1 beam.

Below we have outlined the principles you should follow when creating your own ship:

  1. Try to get a maximum of 2 beams into each Ion Prism.
  2. Ion Beam needs a lot of energy - have reactors near them and a crew ready for transport.
  3. You must have a fairly wide ship for everything to work well. Keep this in mind when designing.
  4. You also can't forget about defence - thick armour, as well as Flak Battery and Point Defence will be very helpful.
