Being a free update to Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Counter Strike 2 has reached our computers after closed beta periods. As the series is mostly focused on competitive play that usually happens by using keyboard and mouse setup, it is possible to play the game by using a controller. Yes, there are people who play the title using controllers to have a good time on a couch with their friends and family, or just simply to chill out without sweating too much. If you would like to learn more about controller support in CS2, you are in the right spot.

Controller support in Counter Strike 2

Steam store page suggests that Counter Strike 2 fully supports controllers, though it seems to not be entirely true, as many players have noticed that they are not working correctly in the game.

There have been discussions on forums going on, where many people who tried to use controllers in CS2 are complaining about them not registering inputs, though it worked correctly in previous version of the game – CS:GO.

This doesn’t seem to be intentional move from Valve’s side, though controller support may also not be their main focus as of now. The core community is centered around competitive play, which requires more precise input for an FPS title which is keyboard and mouse.

Since Valve came up with Steam Input technology, which makes it a lot easier for developers to implement controller support for their games, they will more than likely fix and apply correct settings for CS2. So far, we can only wait for an official patch.
