Deus Ex, Thief and Tomb Raider Could Get Remasters and Remakes
Embracer Group speaks openly about potential remakes and remasters of iconic brands.
The announcement that Embracer Group has acquired the rights to Square Enix's iconic titles has the fans eagerly anticipating news of sequels to their favorite titles. But before that happens, we may be able to play their potential remakes and remasters.
Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain - these and other brands, beloved around the world, have become the property of Embracer Group. The new owners plan to take full advantage of this fact.
"We see great potential not only in sequels, but also in remakes, remasters, spin-offs and transmedia projects," reads the statement by Embracer Group.
This news may worry gamers anticipating new content. However, it is worth noting that the latestst part of the Deus Ex series had its premiere in 2016, and it's been 8 years since the debut of the latest Thief game.
Some titles would undoubtedly benefit from a refresh. It may be, however, that releasing old games in modern edition will get in the way of new installments.
