Platinum From Diablo 4 Battle Pass is Not Enough to Buy Cheapest Item in the Game

Players have yet another reason to hate the first season of Diablo 4's online gameplay. Getting all tiers in the season pass doesn't provide enough premium currency to buy even the cheapest item in the in-game store.

The fourth Diablo has been heavily criticized by players due to, among other things, the changes that went into the game with update 1.1.0. Unfortunately, the nerfing of characters is not the only issue with the first season of online gameplay. Fans are also unhappy with the battle pass.

In this case, Blizzard has exposed itself to the criticism of players due to the premium currency. During the season of the malignant, you can perform various challenges for which you earn successive levels of the pass - there are 90 of them in total. Unlocking most of them requires the purchase of the paid path of the pass for 1,000 platinum. This is the equivalent of €9.99.

However, getting all the levels does not pay off at all, as the player can get a maximum of 666 platinum pieces from the pass. Such an amount is not enough to buy even the cheapest item in the in-game store. For platinum you can buy, among other things, skin sets. The least you need to spend on an accessory is 800 pieces of this premium currency (this is how much a skin for a mount, for example, can cost). So in order to get anything from the store, the player still has to buy at least 200 platinum for 1.99 euros.

This is quite unusual and not surprisingly, Diablo IV players are unhappy with this. In many free games such as Fortnite or Fall Guys after putting in the effort to reach all the levels of the paid season pass, the player gains more premium currency than they paid for it. This is supposed to encourage them to buy another pass, spend the earned currency on items in the store or possibly pay real money for a more expensive premium item. Well - not in Diablo IV.

Blizzard apparently likes to cash in on its fans by forcing them to buy premium currency every season in a paid game, the cheapest version of which costs €69.99. Although the developers have announced recent changes to correct the ills of update 1.1.0, it can hardly be expected to touch the amount of platinum earned in the combat pass. This was most likely a conscious effort on the part of the developers, and they are unlikely to abandon the additional earnings on players.
