Dying Light 2 Gets New Patch; Long List of Fixes

Patch 1.2 for Dying Light 2 is now available. The update should appeal to owners of older PCs and those looking for night time challenges and... more brutal combat.

Dying Light 2 has received a new patch as part of a major update. Patch 1.2 brought with it quite a few changes, which the developers discussed on the game's official website.

Patch 1.2 story content

Techland took on, among other things, the problems of "progress lock", making it impossible to complete certain story tasks alone and/or co-op. This refers to the so-called deathloops, which were partially removed back in February.

However, only now the developers assured that all such bugs in Dying Light 2 have been eliminated.

  1. Fixed bugs preventing completion of the following quests: "Into the Dark", "Assassination", "Raid", "The Only Way Out", "Veronika", "Nightrunners", "The Lost Light", "Double Time".
  2. Safe zones have been fixed: from now on, the game's beds and clock work as they should.
  3. Additionally, new scenes were added in the ending to better match the old ones with the gameplay.

Difficult nights in Dying Light 2

The developers have improved a lot in gameplay, including many elements pointed out by the players. Such as the last boss in Dying Light 2, which has been slightly modified, mainly in terms of co-op (the presence of another player could result in deaths), but also by improving the game's pace and difficulty level.

  1. Among other things, nights have been taken into consideration. Howlers react to the presence of players from a distance, also after being attacked with ranged weapons, and they are more resilient in melee combat. In addition, the Banshees are much quicker to join the chase after players, which by the way is harder to lose if it reaches level four. As a consolation, Banshee and Charger are much easier to spot in the infected horde.
  2. Combat has been better balanced. Melee weapons are more effective depending on their weight, but at the same time enemies react to the player's attacks more efficiently. Human opponents can also block lighter blows.
  3. The availability of high quality bows has been increased, both in the game world and at vendors.
  4. Some of the glitches in the co-op mode have also been fixed, including the issue with using grappling hook and paraglider upgrades earned in co-op.

Dying Light 2 after patch 1.2: clearer and more efficient

Patch 1.2 also introduced a number of technical fixes for Dying Light 2. This includes the addition of ready-made high-performance settings, which should enable us to play on older computers and laptops. The developers have also improved the overall stability and performance, thanks to which DL2 will perform better than before.

  1. AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) has been removed to reduce the risk of the game being forced to close at launch.
  2. The developers have improved shadows and lighting outside, as well as the blur effect (which can be further configured).
  3. The game interface has also been improved, with new display options (including a health and stamina bar) and an overhaul of the options menu to make it easier for players to find the settings they want.

Brutality pack

On the subject of visuals, we cannot forget about the add-on with a very telling name Brutality Pack. This pack introduces such "charming" options as the ability to cut off body parts of enemies like in Dead Space, new sound and visual effects when the player's attack lands (depending on its strength) and splashing the screen with blood of the attacked enemy if he/she is close to us.

The developers admit that this is not a complete list - apart from that, a lot of other bugs have been removed, physics of bodies (ragdoll) has been improved, etc. More details can be found on the game's official website.
