Patch 3.0 for Returnal - essential information

The update is titled Ascension and will be released on March 22nd, this year. What will it bring?

  1. Patch 3.0 will introduce a co-op mode to the game.
  2. Also new is the Endless mode called Tower of Sisyphus, in which the whole game will revolve around trying to reach the highest floor of an endless tower.

Additional details

Co-op mode

Co-op mode will enable two players to enjoy the game at the same time. It will be possible to create open sessions for anyone interested to join, as well as private games for people on our friend list.

In co-op, in a situation where players get too far apart, the game will pull them closer together. If one of them is down, a comrade in arms will get them back on their feet, but it will take some time, exposing the rescuer to danger.

Progress in the campaign will be assigned to the player who hosts the game. So it will be possible to invite another person to help with a section we have problems with, and then continue the game alone.

Tower of Sisyphus

In this mode we will climb the floors of an endless tower. Each stage will be crowned with the clash with Algos, who will be more and more powerful with every encounter.

Sooner or later the player will fall, and their achievements will be summed up by a score, allowing for a comparison with other players in online rankings.

The key to high scores will be a system that gradually increases the rate at which points are accumulated, depending on how long the player manages to avoid being hit.

Importantly, despite the arcade nature of this mode, Tower of Sisyphus will also include story elements, but for now the developers are not ready to reveal the details.
