Dying Light 2's Quality Mode Will Offer Much Better Visuals on PS5/XSX

Dying Light 2 will enable us to choose between two graphics modes on new-gen consoles. Quality settings will significantly increase the visual experience.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Dying Light 2 will offer two graphic modes on current-gen consoles.

Dying Light 2 will offer two visual settings on current-gen consoles. The performance profile will focus on maintaining a constant 60 fps, obviously at the expense of resolution and visual effects. The quality mode will lock the framerate at 30 fps, but in return, we get a significant increase in quality.

This was confirmed by lead level designer Piotr Pawlaczyk in an interview with MP1st.

"We are developing several options for new generations. For players who prefer visual experiences, we have prepared the Quality mode which, thanks to the use of ray-tracing, has significantly improved the quality of the scene, with an emphasis on environment lighting. The ray-tracing itself is then the basis for generating, for example, physically correct shadows."

Gamers who prefer smoother gameplay above all else will be able to select a performance mode that locks the game at 60 fps with optional VRR support. We should also, like in Dying Light, be able to disable several visual effects (motion blur, chromatic aberration).

Techland's title will go on sale on December 7 for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
