Elon Musk Became the Richest Man in the World

Thanks to the dynamic increase in the value of Tesla's stock prices, its founder, Elon Musk, climbed to the top of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Elon Musk became the richest man in the world;
  2. The wealth of Tesla's founder is valued at $195 billion - 10 billion more than Jeff Bezos, now in second place;
  3. In 2020 alone, Elon Musk has earned more than Bill Gates, the third billionaire on Bloomberg's list.

At the end of November we reported that Elon Musk overtook Bill Gates and became the second richest man on Earth. Jeff Bezos was in the first place at that time, but that is also a thing of the past. The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has just overtaken Amazon's boss and took the lead in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Musk's assets are currently valued at 195 billion dollars - 10 billion more than Jeff Bezos. The bulk of this wealth is made up of the shares of Tesla, which has achieved a huge success on the stock exchange over the past year - in twelve months the value of its assets increased by as much as 743%. That's what allowed Musk to advance so quickly in the ranking.

The best illustration of the dynamics of the situation is the fact that at the beginning of last year, Tesla's CEO barely appeared on the list with assets valued at 27 billion dollars. This means that in the last 12 months alone, Musk has earned much more than Bill Gates (the latter's wealth is estimated at 134 billion dollars) , who is third.

Of course, the comparison may look much different if the investors suddenly turn their backs on Tesla, but it doesn't look like it, at least for now. The company recently announced that it managed to meet the target set for 2020 (half a million cars sold - in fact, the number of cars delivered to customers was slightly smaller, but only 450 were missing). Thanks to this, the company's share price is still growing.

It is worth noting that in Forbes' ranking the founder of Tesla is still lower than Bezos and loses about 7.4 billion dollars to the latter. This is due to a different way of calculating assets.

It only remains to wish Elon Musk further success - he is undoubtedly one of the most interesting personalities in the world of big money.
