Elon Musk Warns Against AI - and Calls Many People Dumb in the Process

Once again, billionaire Elon Musk has decided to warn us of the dangers associated with the development of artificial intelligence. He did so in his characteristic style - by calling people who have trouble believing in the superiority of AI over humans „way dumber than they think they are”.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Elon Musk once again warned against artificial intelligence;
  2. In his opinion, people who do not believe that AI can be much smarter than they are, are way dumber than they think;
  3. The billionaire has repeatedly said in the past that he considers AI a huge threat.

The billionaire Elon Musk has decided to warn humanity once again about the dangers of AI. He did so with his characteristic frankness, calling those who do not believe that artificial intelligence can be more intelligent than them are "way dumber than they think they are". (via Business Insider).

"I've been banging this AI drum for a decade. We should be concerned about where AI is going. The people I see being the most wrong about AI are the ones who are very smart, because they can't imagine that a computer could be way smarter than them. That's the flaw in their logic. They're just way dumber than they think they are," said Musk.

In 2018 the inventor stated that AI could potentially be a much greater threat to humanity than nuclear warheads.

"I think the danger of AI is much bigger than the danger of nuclear warheads by a lot. Nobody would suggest we allow the world to just build nuclear warheads if they want, that would be insane. And mark my words: AI is far more dangerous than nukes."

In the past, AI was also the subject of a dispute between the billionaire and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook. According to the latter, AI is a great opportunity for humanity, and excessive pessimism on this issue is irresponsible. Elon Musk bounced the ball, stating that his interlocutor has a "limited understanding" of the subject.

It is worth noting that the inventor does not stop at words, but has a concrete plan to solve the AI problem - the Neuralink implant, which is supposed to enable a connection between the human mind and AI (and, by the way, streaming music straight into the human brain).

"If you can’t beat em, join em," suggested the billionaire in a recent Twitter post, adding that this is Neuralink's mission statement.
