CD Projekt Group is only scheduled to be a guest at gamescom 2025, but the announcement of a meeting with investors has piqued the interest of Witcher (and Cyberpunk) fans.
The Witcher 4 at gamescom 2025 - this is what players are hoping for in the context of reports about an intriguing event for investors of the Polish developer.
Formally, the CD Projekt Group will not appear at the German video game festival, at least not as an independent exhibitor. The Polish company will be present, among others, at the Nintendo booth - with Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 - but it will not have its own booth. However, CDP announced an investor meeting, scheduled for August 20-21.
Such information greatly intrigued the fans of the Witcher series, and for a simple reason. As they claim, CD Projekt has not yet organized this type of conference during the fairs. In truth, it's a rarity in the industry - usually meetings with investors accompany quarterly and annual financial reports and take place on the same day. CDP is indeed planning to publish a semi-annual fiscal report in August, but only a week after the gamescom meeting, on August 28th.
Internet user MrFrostPvP- points this out on Reddit: why would CD Projekt separate these two events, and only by a week? The player also recalls the words of Michal Nowakowski, co-president of the company: he mentioned "catalysts" that are supposed to help achieve the planned consolidated net profit of 4 billion zloty in 2025-2028, projected for this year (although it should be added that such a "catalyst" could be considered, among others, the presentation during the State of Unreal event).
The fan also points to a post by Doug Cockle - the actor who provides the voice for Geralt in the English version of the Witcher trilogy. In mid-July, he published a photo from a recording studio, with tags leaving no doubt that it's about a role in a video game. Even then, Witcher fans were excited - the actor usually doesn't create this type of posts (via Reddit). Yes, Geralt is not his only role - but it is certainly Cockle's most important performance to date.
Interestingly, MrFrostPvP and other internet users do not rule out that this may not be about The Witcher 4 at all. The author of the thread argues that the fourth part of the series is already in full production, and voice actors (as he claims) are usually most active in the early stages of work (although it should be added that Cockle could have been asked to record additional or changed dialogue lines).
Nonetheless, it's no secret that W4 is not the only Witcher game that CD Projekt is working on. A remake of the first installment is also in production, and rumors mention either an online game or a new expansion to The Wild Hunt. We can't also forget about Cyberpunk. On August 21, we will see another highly anticipated crossover between the Edgerunners series and Guilty Gear Strive, and there were once rumors about an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
Of course, all of this is just speculation based on the announcement of a meeting with investors and a few possibly unrelated pieces of information. Let's emphasize once again: CD Projekt will not be an exhibitor at gamescom 2025. Perhaps the Polish studio will remind about itself during the opening ceremony of the German fair, but for now it's better not to expect absolutely anything.
