First reviews of Persona 5: Strikers, the sequel to the successful 2017 jRPG that expands the themes from the base game but makes some big changes to the gameplay, have appeared online.
IN A NUTSHELL:
In less than two weeks, Persona 5: Strikers, a sequel to the jRPG Persona 5, which expands some story threads but offers a noticeably different gameplay, will debut on the Western market. The developers have created a more arcade combat system, modeled on musou games, and completely removed the social interaction mechanics. The title will be available on PC (on Steam) as well as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The first reviews of the game have already appeared in the web.
According to reviewers, Persona 5: Strikers is a successful production, which is also an interesting continuation of the original game and offers a noticeably different experience for fans of the series. It's true that the storyline is a little worse than in P5, and the lack of well-loved social elements is a bit of a bummer, but the script still holds a decent level and the gameplay is engaging.
"Fusing the rich game world of Persona with real-time combat, Omega Force and P-Studio have created a new Persona of their own and it is a worthy addition to a classic franchise," Patrick Anderson, COGconnected (89/100).
"Persona 5's RPG elements thrive in action-based combat, and while the story may not hit hard, the Phantom Thieves haven't forgotten what they're about," Michael Higham, GameSpot (rating 8/10).
"Strikers walks and talks like Persona 5, but no social game and bland combat make it one strictly for gigafans," James Davenport, PCGamer (rated 63/100).
On Metacritic, the game boasts an average review score between 79 and 85%(worst on PC and best on PlayStation 4). In the case of OpenCritic, the average is very similar (i.e. 82%, with as many as 86% of reviewers considering this title worthy of recommendation).
