Fortnite Save the World is done with random lootboxs

Random lootbox contents will soon become history in Fortnite Save the World mode. Soon, the players will be able to take a look inside the box.

Llamas will change for the better.

Epic Games announced planned changes in Fortnite: Save the World, which in practice means the end of traditional lootboxes. They won't disappear from the virtual store, but you'll be given the option to suspect what's in them before making a purchase. It will remove the randomness, which is the main cause of controversy about this business model.

In Fortnite: Save the World the lootboxes take the form of llama-shaped pinatas. As things are now, we can't see what's inside them before buying. The upcoming 7.30 update will replace them with so-called X-ray llamas, in the case of which the shop will show you what exactly you’ll get. This change will not include the mini lamas acquired by playing or the special event piniatas.

The offered items will be determined based on our account, so that it is compatible with the change introduced in the 5.10 patch, which reduces the chances for duplicated items. Thanks to it, if there is a legendary shotgun in the pineata, the game selects it from among those that we don't have on our account. Only when we have all types of an item, will the game give us a second copy.

These changes will be implemented only in Fortnite: Save the World, the game’s paid mode. In the much more popular Fortnite: Battle Royale piniats work differently. You will not find them in the shop. Instead, some of them appear on the map in random places at the beginning of the game and players have to find and open them by themselves.
