Google Stadia Requires 25 Mb/s For Smooth 1080p in 60fps

Phil Harrison, the boss of Google Stadia project, has shared some information about the bandwidth required to be able to play in FullHD and 60 fps.

Presentation of the game streaming service Google Stadia was undoubtedly one of the biggest events of the video game industry in recent weeks. Many issues were discussed during the Game Developers Conference 2019, such as the technical specification of Google's servers, controller capabilities or cooperation with external partners, but the aspect that is essential many players, i.e. the requirements for Internet connection, was not discussed. The interviewee stated that the recommended connection speed, which will allow for FullHD gameplay at 60 frames per second, is 25 Mb/s. Harrison pointed out that smooth gameplay in this quality of the image should also be possible on slower connections, but the quoted value is recommended for comfortable play.

The head of Google Stadia also informed us that a connection of about 30 Mbps should suffice to play in 4K resolution, although it is not known whether this includes 60 fps/s or the basic value of 30 fps.

You have to admit that the technical requirements of the service are quite good in comparison with the competitive solution from Nvidia - GeForce Now. In this case, in order to have fun in 720p and 60 fps we need an Internet connection with a speed of 20 Mbps, while those who want to play in FullHD and 60 fps must have a 50 Mbps connection.
