Update #3

Trailer of GTA 6 has officially become the most popular video on the Rockstar Games channel!

Update #2

Trailer of GTA 6 has broken the 100 million views mark. It will also soon become the most popular video on Rockstar Games' YouTube channel (at the time of writing this update, it is about 400,000 views short of beating the result of the GTA 5 trailer). The success of the video was even noted by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Update #1

Within the first 24 hours of its debut, the trailer for GTA 6 on YouTube - counting only the video uploaded on the Rockstar Games channel - was viewed 90 million 635 thousand times.. At this point to Rockstar's most popular video, the GTA 5 trailer, has just 9 million impressions more.

Nearly 91 million views in the first day is the third best result in the history of YouTube.

Original news (December 5)

Premature release of Grand Theft Auto VI's trailer (which was caused by a leak) did not hinder the upcoming game from Rockstar in achieving an impressive number of views on YouTube.

The first official video showing the new part of the iconic GTA series has been viewed as many as 60 million times, and in just under 12 hours.

The insane popularity of the trailer of what is perhaps the most anticipated game in the history of the industry is evidenced by the fact that Rockstar's short video has become the fastest viewer earning video on YouTube, which is not categorized as music or music video (via Okami_13).

MrBeast's record is broken, and it's not over

Most impressively, however, the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI needed less than 12 hours to leave the previous leader of this list behind, MrBeast's video titled 7 Days Stranded at Sea, which was played 46 million times in 24 hours.

At the time of writing this news, the trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI already has nearly 69 million views, which, as of this moment, ranks it as the 9th most popular video on YouTube that has gained insane popularity in 24 hours - including music and music videos.

Rockstar's upcoming game is likely to further increase its score, given that there are less than 9 hours left until the "closing" and official posting of the discussed trailer in the ranking.

Admittedly, the leader of the list will be hard to beat - the music video for Butter by BTS received 108 million views in a single 24-hour period - but GTA 6 has a real chance to get on the podium of this elite ranking.

  1. List of the most popular videos on YouTube 24 hours a day as of publication

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to debut in 2025. The game will take us to the state of Leonida, specifically to Vice City and its surroundings, which is well known to fans of the series. Rockstar has announced that the title (for now) is heading for current-generation consoles, i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It's worth mentioning that Rockstar has not abandoned the originally scheduled release date of the trailer. Equally at midnight, the studio's official website (finally) released the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. This is the same video that hit YouTube 15 hours ago.
