Here's Fan-made Portal Remake on Unreal Engine 5

A beautiful video has surfaced online, showing what a remake of Portal on Unreal Engine 5 could look like.

Eleven years have passed since the release of Portal 2, and there is nothing to indicate that we will soon receive the third installment. The sadness of this situation is alleviated by fan projects. One of the latest is a video showing how a remake of the first part of the series could look like (posted below).

Its author is Alfred Beddow, an artist who recreated the first location in the game on Unreal Engine 5. The whole thing looks beautiful, especially that it uses ray tracing. Unfortunately, the project is only meant to showcase the artist's talents. He has no plans to make this map available to the public.

The first Portal debuted in 2007. The continuation was released four years later. The last time we could visit the universe of this series was two months ago in Aperture Desk Job, a small free game designed to familiarize users with Steam Deck.

Valve has allowed other developers to create projects from this universe several times, which resulted in the puzzle game Bridge Constructor: Portal and the You Monster DLC to the tower defense strategy game Defense Grid: The Awakening
