Hogwarts Legacy Delayed on Last-gen; Gone Gold Otherwise

Hogwarts Legacy will suffer a delay - fortunately (?) only on PS4 and XOne. In addition, we finally learned when the title will be released on Switch.

I bring bad news for those who intend to play Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. announced that on these platforms the game will be released slightly later than on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, although until now a single date for all five had been provided.

  • On PS4 and XOne Hogwarts Legacy will come out on April 4, 2023.
  • On PC, PS5 and XSX/S, the release date has thankfully remained unchanged - the title will debut on them on February 10, 2023. What's more, these versions of the game have already gone gold, which means that the stated release date should not be in jeopardy.

The decision to delay the release of Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and XOne was said to be dictated by the desire of Avalanche Software and Warner Bros to ensure the best possible experience for all players. "Between the lines" one can read that the companies simply do not want to experience what happened to CD Projekt Red after the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

Release on Switch

At the same time, we were informed when the game will come to Switch. So far we only knew that it would happen after the release on the other platforms, later in 2023. Today, the developer and publisher revealed that Hogwarts Legacy will be released on Nintendo's console on July 25, 2023.

New gameplay

As a reminder, let me add that the third gameplay show is coming tomorrow. The broadcast is scheduled for 10:00 am PT. You can find more information about it in a separate news.
