Sequel to Hit 2D Game Delayed; Fans Suprisingly Patient
It's been in development for more than 4 years, the developers have been unwilling to share details about it, and now it's been delayed - normally, players would grab torches and pitchforks. In this case, however, they have only forbearance.
If you enjoyed the highly rated Hollow Knight and are looking forward to an equally good sequel, unfortunately you have to be patient - the developers have delayed the release of the latter, explaining their decision with the desire to increase quality.
Hollow Knight: Silksong - release delayed
The relevant news was published on Twitter. Despite the rather important message of postponing the release of a highly-anticipated game, the information is short and lacking substance (the new approximate release date is missing).
As you can see, Team Cherry has great ambitions to provide the players with a worthy sequel. Recall that this is consistent with the information from two years ago, when the developers described Silksong as "better" and "bigger" compared to the original Hollow Knight.
Hollow Knight is still the top of 2D games
Developers are measuring their strengths against their intentions when creating a sequel, which can be inferred from the next move, although in this case the task can be extremely difficult.
- Hollow Knight is a great title - with 250,000 reviews on Steam as many as 97% are positive, and the average rating of reviewers on Metacritic for the PC version is 87/100.
- The game has developed such a cult following that, despite being 6 years old, players continue to "tinker" with it - recently you could read about a fan dubbing project, which involved more than 100 people.
Players show great forbearance
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been in development for at least four years now, so the players would be justified to voice disappointment and regret in response to the news of the game's delay. However, this has not happened - on Reddit and Twitter players have shown great forbearance. Here are some selected comments.
"I prefer this kind of information to worrying about whether work on the game is still progressing (along the lines of "Oh shit, it's not cancelled, is it?!"). Keep up the great work. We'll be ready when you are," reassures Andy Cortez
"To be honest, I'm not surprised. The silence from Team Cherry so far has made me very doubtful about the game's release in May/June. I'm happy that Team Cherry has decided to speak up and inform us of the situation," praises SorryRoof1653
Hollow Knight: Silksong is heading to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch. The exact release date remains unknown. More information about the game can be found on Steam and developer's official website.
